Cyberspace & Subjectivity

Very interesting lecture on how technology and advancements in technology have affected society. Things such as Cyberpunk and cyberpunk writers portray technology as being a medium of control. Also how and advancements in communication affect peoples everyday lives.

How does having such amazing freedom to communicate to people all over the World through the internet affect us? Does it make us less likely to socialize in real life?

In my case yes because its much easier to me to communicate to people through the internet and I can communicate with much more people through the internet. For instance I could have an online conversation with 5 different people in 5 different countries across the globe at the same time. The main advantage to online communication is the distance and amount of people we can reach out to and speak to or write to. I can also show people my music videos online easier than I could in person. By uploading my art I can get comments and opinions of many people who view them.

The downside of my increased communication with people through the internet is that I leave my house less because I simply don’t need to. I always have problems with trying to communicate emotions online because we cannot convey facial expressions online. Sarcasm for instance is very hard to convey online and often gets mistaken for insult. Also having a conversation online with someone will never be as satisfying or as interesting as having that same conversation with them in real life. Also people are less communicating than you think online most people don’t communicate as well online as I do so when I suggest a question like “Do you think pop music in the UK is suppressing better more artistic music and high art”” They will probably give me a 2 word answer like “Yeah Lol” I find this most annoying because I do like chatting to people and having debates and interesting arguments about art and music  its just that most people I talk to online don’t seem as adept nor as interested in having a lengthy discussion online so most conversations are short and to the point.

So I can be sure that technology can be used as a means of a extending communication to many people around the world but I don’t think it will ever replace speaking to real people.

This is a little of my thoughts on the topic but will not replace being there in person hearing my lecture speak.

Interlink my 3 blogs by an interactive changing virtual map with 3 main stars like in Orion’s Belt representing: – My first personal website. This is where I upload interesting videos that I make as art out of found footage. It also contains my ideas about new media projects, concepts and installations.– for uploading and posting research articles for continued coursework for critical research practice. If I can get it back when they finish  marking it – For storing my notes from tutorials, lectures, presentations, pictures, related videos, uploaded documents. Will also function like a personal blackboard. Which I can constantly update.

These 3 blogs will be the hub If I could make a I-map of the main pages inside each blog and network them into the map in the stars.

This is an Idea of mine about how to make an amazing online portfolio for myself and to create my own online workspace. I’m sure this will be useful to me for keeping track of my course modules and achieve different objectives at the same time. It will also be accessible from whatever computers I can use that have access to the internet. That means I can upload notes while I’m in the lecture I could actively research and post articles for each one.

I am currently using Windows Live Writer tool it makes writing and uploading posts much faster and easier. Also allowing for multiple uploads, video placement, adding photos, screenshots. I think this could really help me with my course because I do 75% all my coursework research and documentation electronically. Also all my notes from lectures I type while in the lecture. This way they can be downloaded for future use and stored within the internet as a backup for the originals.

The Way Things Go

Footage from:Video: The Way Things Go

By Peter Fischili and David Weiss

From this location

Filmed in 1987

This is purely a post designed for comparison for my CMP Blog  post that is about Honda’s The Cog advert

I haven’t modified anything about the video except the size because the original version was too large to upload. So I made it smaller and framed it in darkness.

The quality has been reduced by this sites video compressor.

Songs used: Every Curl of His Beard – Carrington, Yonderboi – track 4, Lupe Fiasco – Dumb it Down. These were the tracks that I was listening to while recording the footage that I thought would fit the sequence or that I like.

This is the name I gave to an idea that came to me on the tenth of September this year. The idea of creating music videos designed to be projected onto the four walls of a room. In a club for example. I make Master play-lists that provide full audio visual immersion a to the viewer. Each song or video has a theme that is taken from messages that I try to convey within the music and visuals.

This site will allow me to share my work with people all over the World. It will contain my creations in the forms of Videos, Music, Art and information pertaining to SIGHT OF SOUND.

My video archive is slowly growing as I upload more and more of my work and is on the page which is located on the left of the site.

My music archive is quite new but allows people to listen to the tracks I create, that I use or that I’m interested in. That is located in SIGHT OF SOUND MUSIC page and can be viewed and downloaded if you so desire. Please have a browse though my site and leave comments if you want to let me know what you think.

A video that I made about the big bang, the universe and how much about the universe we know about. Footage from A Cosmic Voyage. Track by Rusko. I wanted to show people the beauty in the size and structure of the Universe. Not many people truly understand just how big the Universe is. This video will give them a sense of perspective as to our place in the universe.

Jah Jah Is coming

I made this track a while ago by de-constructing a beat by Excision called Yout man, I then reconstructed it and added effects to it to create a new one.  Those of you who new Jah Jah would understand the songs personal relevance.

You can download my track by right clicking on the link below.

A new playlist for people to enjoy

October 23, 2010 § Leave a comment

This playlist is freshly made from several tracks that I recorded myself mixing on Virtual DJ. Some beats by Digital Mystikz, Rusko, Reggae Mix, Dubstep Essential mix. I then had a bit of fun with the tracks by editing them in Sony Vegas so that the beat flowed properly. I cut out pieces of different beats and mixed them together into a track that I enjoyed listening to and that I hoped others would enjoy. Anyway you can download this track and listen to it yourself and tell me your thoughts. My Fly High Dubstep Mix
