Nichiren Daishonin, a 13th Century monk, noted in one of his treatises, entitled,

“On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land,” <quote>

“Emperors and kings have their foundation in the state and bring peace and order to the age;

ministers and commoners hold possession of their fields and gardens and supply the needs of the world.

But if marauders come from other regions to invade the nation, or if revolt breaks out within the domain and people’s lands are seized and plundered, how can there be anything but terror and confusion?

If the nation is destroyed and families are wiped out, then where can one flee for safety?

If you care anything about your personal security, you should first of all pray for order and tranquility throughout the four quarters of the land, should you not?”<unquote

Modernized translation: Skye a 20th century artist in one of his online posts entitled,

“On establishing the conventions and laws supporting the fragile peace of this World,

“Presidents and governors have their positions in the state and try to bring peace and order to the age;

ministers and citizens hold possession of their homes and their jobs and supply the needs of the World.

But if terrorists come from other countries to invade the nation, or if revolt breaks out within the domain and people’s Homes are seized and plundered, how can there be anything but terror and confusion?

If the nation is destroyed and families are wiped out, then where can one go to seek refuge?

If you care anything about your personal security, you should add your views to the collective of the internet and try to help secure order and tranquillity throughout the World should you not?”
